About us
A Chawan That Stops Time
Meeting matcha can rearrange things from the first sip. For us the door was opened by a matcha from Kyoto, tasted at a time when it was still a rarity in Europe. We were already deep in green teas and in the Japanese tradition by then.
So we recognised its character at once — with all the attention the queen of green teas asks for. That umami stayed with us so clearly that from then on we were guided by a longing for what we had tasted years earlier. The subject kept returning in conversation: an experience that had stopped time. And it was that longing that led us to Izumo — a place where matcha is made without compromise, in step with nature and with tradition.
A brand rooted in what we value
Tea is „a religion of the art of life” — we find the grace of routine by following those words of Okakura (Kakuzō Okakura, The Book of Tea, 1906). We have spent twenty years in tea, so we come to matcha with the greatest respect.
Moshi Matcha is a road running from Japan to your homes. A space where tradition meets the ordinary, nature meets aesthetics, the pastoral meets the mysterious, and conversation meets quiet. We are building a brand with a purpose — we want to open you to experiences you will no longer have to long for.
A ritual that everyday life makes room for
We want to spread the conviction that matcha does not belong to ceremony alone. It can just as easily keep company with the plainest moments of an ordinary day. Tea can help you find a harmony drawn from the natural world, and a grateful attention to the senses in a moment of pause — held as a fixed point in the routine.
The details that surround the ritual
Moshi Matcha also means artistic tea ceramics inspired by nature. Local makers pour their craft into every piece, so that the unique chawan — the tea bowl — you hold carries the matcha ritual beyond taste — into touch, into sight, into a full aesthetic experience in your own space.
We look for depth in what we love
We do not take shortcuts. What we give you is matcha considered down to the last detail — matcha you can drink in its purest form, with nothing but water. In it we look for deep umami and for the subtle notes that wake the attention of anyone willing to go further into the world of matcha. A world full of the nuances that make life better.
